Masks for Pandemic Flu

In a document released on October 24th, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises healthcare workers during a flu pandemic to wear N-95 masks when performing medical activities that have a high likelihood of generating infectious respiratory aerosols. For more information, see Quality America's July/Aug 2006 issue of OSHA Watch Newsletter (page 7 and 11) or access the report (Interim Guidance on Planning for the Use of Surgical Masks and Respirators in Health Care Settings during an Influenza Pandemic) at http://www.pandemicflu.gov/plan/maskguidancehc.html
